Why This Works for Intermittent Fasting
This smoothie is built on coconut cream and collagen, delivering a high-fat, moderate-protein combination that keeps insulin low and hunger at bay for hours. Matcha provides a slow, steady release of caffeine alongside L-theanine — a calming amino acid that sharpens focus without the jitteriness of coffee. It is an ideal first meal when you break a 16- or 18-hour fast and want something satisfying without overloading your digestive system all at once.
Ingredients
- ½ cup (120 ml) full-fat coconut cream, chilled
- ½ cup (120 ml) cold water or unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tsp ceremonial or culinary-grade matcha powder
- 1 scoop (25 g) unflavored collagen peptides or vanilla whey protein (no added sugar)
- 1 tsp MCT oil
- ½ tsp pure vanilla extract (unsweetened)
- Pinch of sea salt
- 5–6 ice cubes
- Stevia or monk fruit sweetener to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Add the chilled coconut cream and cold water (or almond milk) to a blender.
- Sift in the matcha powder to avoid clumps, then add the collagen peptides and MCT oil.
- Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt.
- Drop in the ice cubes.
- Blend on high for 45–60 seconds until smooth and frothy.
- Taste and add stevia or monk fruit sweetener if desired, then blend for another 10 seconds.
- Pour into a tall glass, dust a little extra matcha over the top, and serve immediately.

Fasting Compatibility
Best for: 16:8, 18:6, OMAD. This smoothie is calorie-dense enough to satisfy genuine hunger after a long fast while keeping carbohydrates extremely low — which means insulin stays stable and you remain in or near a fat-burning state throughout your eating window. The combination of coconut fat, MCT oil, and collagen also supports satiety, making it easier to maintain a smaller eating window without feeling deprived.
