Vanilla Almond Milk Collagen Protein Shake

Why This Works for Intermittent Fasting

Collagen protein is gentle on the digestive system and provides the amino acids glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline — which support gut lining, joint health, and skin. Unsweetened almond milk keeps carbohydrates minimal, while a small amount of MCT oil or almond butter adds fat to extend satiety through the eating window. This shake is ideal for breaking a fast gently without overloading digestion.

Ingredients

  • 350 ml unsweetened almond milk (plain, no added sugar or starch thickeners if possible)
  • 1 scoop (25–30g) unflavoured or vanilla collagen peptides
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter (no added sugar or oil)
  • 1 teaspoon MCT oil or coconut oil
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract (alcohol-based, no added sugar)
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 3–4 ice cubes
  • Optional: a few drops of stevia or monk fruit sweetener if you prefer a sweeter shake

Instructions

  1. Add the unsweetened almond milk to a blender.
  2. Add the collagen peptides, almond butter, MCT oil, vanilla extract, and sea salt.
  3. Drop in the ice cubes.
  4. Blend on high for 45–60 seconds until smooth and slightly frothy.
  5. Taste and adjust — add a drop of stevia if you want a sweeter flavour.
  6. Pour into a glass and drink immediately while cold.

Fasting Compatibility

Best for: 16:8, 18:6, OMAD. This shake is an excellent first food when breaking a fast — collagen protein is less likely to spike insulin than whey or casein, making it a gentler re-entry to eating. The fat from almond butter and MCT oil extends fullness without triggering a blood sugar response. Ideal as the opening of an eating window before a larger meal 30–60 minutes later.
