Spiced Lamb Meatballs With Mint Yogurt Dip
Why This Works for Intermittent Fasting
Ground lamb is naturally rich in protein and fat, so these meatballs deliver real satiety in a small portion — exactly what you want from a snack that has to hold you over inside a limited eating window. The mint yogurt dip adds probiotic yogurt without added sugar, and because the whole recipe is low in carbohydrate, it won't send blood sugar spiking right before your fast resumes.
Ingredients
For the meatballs:
- 500g (1 lb) ground lamb
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil, for cooking
For the mint yogurt dip:
- 200g (3/4 cup) full-fat plain Greek yogurt
- 2 tbsp fresh mint, finely chopped
- 1 small garlic clove, minced
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, grated onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.
- Roll the mixture into 16–18 small meatballs, about the size of a walnut.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the meatballs in batches, turning occasionally, for 8–10 minutes, until browned on all sides and cooked through (internal temperature of 71°C / 160°F).
- While the meatballs cook, whisk together the yogurt, mint, garlic, lemon juice, and salt in a small bowl.
- Transfer the cooked meatballs to a plate and serve warm with the mint yogurt dip alongside for dipping.

Fasting Compatibility
These meatballs work well as a protein-forward snack inside a 16:8 or 18:6 eating window, and they're easy to portion down as a lighter first bite when breaking a longer fast, since the fat and protein are gentle on a digestive system that's been resting.
